Well, I won't have too much of a problem with that, should that be the case! I mean, I'm not going to look him right in the eye and say "there you aren't!"

Sadly you will have to face the God you hate on the day of Judgement and with your own mouth you will confess that Jesus is Lord.

With that logic, you make me hate this god fellow even more. I don't care who he is or what he did, he's still a gigantic prick.

Deuteronomy 13:6-9 is a perfect demonstration of how the only true God of the bible hates people who serve false gods. The bible is never wrong. We should love God above our own families. Actually we should love God more than we love ourselves. We all deserve to be stoned to death, because we are all evil by nature.
What you need to realise is that you are alive because of God's common grace. If God gave you justice you will not be here today.
You are right killing others is wrong. But what is in Deuteronomy is not the same as murder. Its like a person sentenced to death for a crime, that is not murder.

Deuteronomy

Chapter 13 Verse 6: If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 7: Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 8: Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: 9: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

Morals in Christianity? If killing apostates is moral, sure. But it's not and it never was. I don't care if the rules were different 4000 years ago or ten million years ago, killing others is never right.

In response to the above post -"My whole point was that the bible contradicts our current moral understanding and that no one actually obeys the bible word for word. If they did general society would call them, dare I say, crazy."

Umm the bible does not contradict any moral understanding, human beings do. I am a christian who obeys and believe the bible word for word - and I have to say you got one thing right, the world thinks I am crazy. So did the world think of the Lord Jesus, Paul, Peter and all the other apostles of Christ.
Will leave you with Jesus's words in John 15: 18-19
"If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."

By the looks of it you hate Christians, and bible testifies that you do. The very bible you hate is a testimony agaisnt you!

First off, here are some references to mentions of slavery. The bible really likes giving specific rules for trading and acquiring slaves...

Hebrew Slaves: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus%2021:2-6;&version=31;
Selling your daughter as a slave: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+21:7-11
What happens if you kill a slave? http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus%2021:20-21;&version=31;
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%206:5;&version=31;

Here's some slavery in the new testament:

People in debt (and their family) put into slavery for payment of their debt. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2018:25;&version=31;

Slaves should obey their masters like christ. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%206:5-9;&version=31;

Notice: slave was replaces with servant in many translations of the bible to by more sympathetic but it's obvious (at least to me) that it is, in fact, a forced situation: aka slavery.

Next, let's go with ritual sacrifice:

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua%207:15;&version=31;
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Kings%2013:1-2;&version=31;

Now for some rapage:

If you rape a girl then you've got to give her father 50 shekels of silver and marry her. Wow, what a punishment... http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy%2022:28-29;&version=31;

I tried to make it clear that condoning slavery is in the new testament. I'm not sure about rape and sacrifice. I doubt that... I would look up more references but I really don't want to put any more effort into teaching you about your bible... (I'm assuming). My whole point was that the bible contradicts our current moral understanding and that no one actually obeys the bible word for word.
"Also, if some Christians really do take the bible as the literal word of god then they should be stoning their unruly children to death, trading slaves according to the rules of the old AND new testaments, raping, murdering and performing ritual human sacrifice."

"I'd be interested to know where you found approval of ritual human sacrifice and raping in the Bible, especially in the New Testamant. And where does it condone the trading of slaves???

I used to be well acquainted with Ray Comfort's blog but then I got tired of the non sense that goes on there. When you make a serious argument to whatever he's spewing he just keeps spewing more and more BS until the argument is so far out in wacky-land that it becomes useless. Remember, this is the guy that says the banana is proof of god because we it is looks as if it's designed for us...

He doesn't even know that ALL of the vegetables that we eat have been domesticated through a slow process (of evolution). 'Wild' bananas look nothing like the bright yellow banana that you're used to seeing.

I'm all for promoting the "good parts" of the bible but not to admit that those parts are good BECAUSE they are in the bible. That's completely and patently false.
